Pengertian Energi Listrik

Energi (kerja) listrik merupakan jumlah daya listrik yang dikonsumsi atau diserap oleh beban kelistrikan dalam waktu.

Satuan waktu dapat dinyatakan dalam detik (second) atau dalam jam (hour).


Rumus Menghitung Energi Listrik

Energi listrik dapat dihitung dengan menggunakan rumus :

W = P x t

Atau

W = V x I x t

Atau

W = I² x R x t

Atau

W = V² / R x t

Keterangan :

  • W adalah kerja listrik dengan satuan Ws (jangan artikan W sebagai Watt) 
  • P adalah daya listrik dengan satuan Watt
  • t adalah waktu dengan satuan s
  • V adalah tegangan dengan satuan Volt
  • R adalah hambatan dengan satuan Ohm (Ω)
  • I adalah kuat arus dengan satuan Ampere

Satuan turunan daya listrik

  • 1 Wh (Watt hours) = 3600 Ws (Watt second)
  • 1 kWh (kilo Watt hours) = 1000 Wh (Watt hours)
  • 1 kWh (kilo Watt hours) = 3.600.000 Ws (Watt Second)


Contoh Perhitungan Energi Listrik

Contoh soal 1

Perhatikan gambar di bawah ini, Hitunglah energi listrik yang digunakan jika diketahui sumber tegangan 12 Volt, arus yang mengalir ke lampu 5 Ampere dan waktu yang digunakan untuk menyalakan lampu selama 30 s.


Jawab

Jika diketahui tegangan (V), Arus (I) dan waktu (t), maka kita gunakan rumus :

W = V x I x t

Kemudian kita masukkan ke dalam rumus :

W = 12 x 5 x 30 = 1.800 Ws atau 0,5 Wh 


Contoh soal 2

Berapakah energi listrik yang digunakan pada lampu yang memiliki daya 50 Watt yang dinyalakan dalam 10 menit ?

Jawab

Jika diketahui Daya lampu (Watt) dan waktu (t), maka kita gunakan rumus :

W = P x t

Sebelumnya, untuk waktu kita konversikan menjadi detik sehingga 10 menit = 600 second

Kemudian kita masukkan ke dalam rumus :

W = 50 x 600 = 30.000 Ws atau 8,3 Wh


Contoh soal 3

Perhatikan gambar di bawah ini, Hitunglah energi listrik yang digunakan jika diketahui arus yang mengalir ke lampu 5 Ampere, hambatan lampu 10 Ω dan waktu yang digunakan untuk menyalakan lampu selama 1 jam.


Jawab

Jika diketahui kuat arus (I), Hambatan beban (R) dan waktu (t), maka kita gunakan rumus :

W = I² x R x t

Kemudian kita masukkan ke dalam rumus :

W = 5² x 10 x 1 = 250 Wh
